By the end of this course, attendees will have an in-depth understanding of how to build applications within the VB 5.0 environment. At the end of the course, attendees will be able to create, compile, and debug multi-form applications, use the VB wizards, and understand how to create setup programs for applications.

 Course Description

This course uses hands-on activities to teach each student how to create simple, Windows-based applications using the Visual Basic 5.0 language. Key topics include introduction to Visual Basic, building an application, coding, debugging, forms, variables, procedures, controls, menus, error handling, and wizards.

 Audience

Course curriculum is geared towards individuals with a desire to learn how to apply their programming skills to the Windows environment.

 Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students should have the ability to:

  • Identify and describe the purpose of various Visual Basic environment components
  • Build and run a small application with multiple-form applications using the Application Wizard
  • Use the Code Editor window to write various code constructs
  • Isolate, identify, and correct compilation, logic and run-time errors
  • Understand Sub and Function procedures and pass arguments by value and reference
  • Create application interfaces with standard and custom controls
  • Build common and pop-up menus into an application
  • Write error-handling routines
  • Create, install, and remove a setup program
  • Use the data control to access a database table
  • Discuss the features of an MDI environment

 Prerequisites

This course requires a prior working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and some programming experience.
