In recent years, JavaTM has become one of the hottest development technologies around. The concept of being able to develop once and deploy anywhere is a very powerful one. More recently, the higher-level development environments implement Java to increase productivity and the speed of development. The focus of this course is to provide attendees with a knowledge of the Java 1.3 specification, including the language structure, AWT, and API. Internationalization is not included in this course. Course Description This five day course teaches the Java language for writing applications and applets. The course covers all the basic elements of Java:
As part of the course students will develop a stand-alone application, applet, GUI application, multi-threaded application and a networked client/server chat application. Audience Application developers, Internet developers, middleware developers, client/server application developers. Objectives Upon completion of this course the student will be skilled in Java development including applications and applets, GUI design, the Java event model, threads and networking. Prerequisites Prior programming experience with a procedural programming language. C/C++ experience is a significant plus but not required.
