The Structured Query Language (SQL) is of prime importance in today’s application development environment. This course takes a consolidated approach to the subject, covering all aspects of the SQL-92 standard. Advanced topics such as different join techniques are included as is a discussion on the different implementations of SQL constructs among the major RDBMS vendors. Course Description This course presents the Structured Query Language (SQL) without reference to a particular database product. This course provides the fundamental background to utilize SQL across development platforms and operating systems. Subjects include Introduction to SQL, retrieving information, manipulating data, multiple table processing and transactions. The course objectives are reinforced by a number of real-world exercises and labs. Audience This course is designed for anyone who desires a proficiency in the SQL topics listed in the Course Objectives. This will include all Relational Database Management System users such as Information Systems professionals with limited or no exposure to SQL, Business Users, Analysts, Systems Analysts, Students, and Business Managers. Objectives By the end of the course, the student should exhibit a proficiency in coding both simple and complex SELECT statements, as well as coding INSERT, DELETE and UPDATE statements.
